Fresh Grade and Sod Install Turns a Rough Yard Into a Usable Space

A lot of yards just need a reset. Not a bandaid - a real reset. That means starting from the ground up, getting the grade right, bringing in fresh dirt, and laying sod that actually has a fighting chance to take root and last.

That's exactly what we did here. The base work comes first, always. If the ground underneath isn't properly graded, the sod on top is going to settle unevenly, hold water in the wrong spots, or just fail outright. We don't skip that step. Fresh dirt gets worked in, the grade gets dialed in, and then we roll out the sod on a surface that's actually ready for it.

You can see the sod going down across the full yard - front and side. It's a clean, uniform install laid tight so there are no gaps or loose edges that dry out and die. A spreader runs across the surface after the sod is down to make sure everything gets what it needs to establish quickly. The whole yard goes from bare and rough to something that looks and feels finished.

What most people don't realize is that the sod itself is almost secondary to the prep work underneath. Get the grading wrong and nothing grows right. Get it right and the sod knits into place fast, drains properly, and gives you a yard you can actually use - not just look at.
