Retaining Wall and Drainage Overhaul on a Sloped Property

Sloped properties are tricky. Water runs where it wants, soil shifts over time, and without the right support in place, that slope starts working against you. That's exactly what we were dealing with here - a site that needed serious work from the ground up before anything clean or finished could happen on top of it.

We started with the rough grade. That means digging out, getting the drainage right, and laying the groundwork so everything built on top of it actually holds. You can see where the corrugated drainage pipe was set into the slope to redirect runoff away from the driveway area. That kind of detail matters - skip it, and you're just building on top of a problem that's going to keep getting worse.

The retaining wall itself is built from large concrete block - solid, structured, and level from end to end. This isn't decorative. It's doing real work. It's holding back the slope, creating a usable flat space where there wasn't one before, and keeping everything behind it from slowly creeping toward the driveway. We take that seriously, which is why we don't cut corners on the base or the alignment.

Once the wall was up and the grade was set, we poured the concrete pad. Fresh pour, smooth finish, tight to the wall. The finished result gives the homeowner a clean, functional area right off the driveway - flat, stable, and built to last. No more wasted space on a problem slope.
